The Clover Club

In honor of the dusting of snow that’s in this weekend’s forecast for Nashville, we thought we’d go with more of a wintery cocktail. This gin based cocktail is named after the elite Philadelphia gentlemen’s club that flourished from its inception all the way through the roaring twenties. Funny how this cocktail named after a gentlemen’s club is a favorite of the ladies with its fruity finish.

The Clover Club

Ingredients (1 serving):

1 1/2 ounces gin

1/2 ounce dry vermouth

1/2 ounce lemon juice

1/2 ounce raspberry syrup (or muddle a few berries with some simple syrup)

1/2 ounce egg white (or half of the white of one egg)

ice cubes

raspberries (to garnish)


In a cocktail shaker, combine gin, vermouth, lemon juice, raspberry syrup and egg white. Shake for about 20 to 30 seconds or until the egg white emulsifies. Next add a few ice cubes and shake again until chilled sufficiently. Strain into the glass,  garnish with a raspberry or two and enjoy!
